primary standards, what is a primary standard, primary standard definition, lab supplies

Primary Standards

Consider GFS primary standards for use in your titrations and standardization solutions. GFS manufactures very pure primary standards that meet NIST standards. Some can be manufactured in large quantities.  Our Popular In-Stock Primary Standards include:

  • Benzoic Acid/Calcium Carbonate/Ceric Ammonium Nitrate
  • Potassium Acid Phthalate (KHP)/Sodium Tartrate Dihydrate
  • Sodium Carbonate/Sodium Oxalate/Sulfamic Acid
  • Ferrous Ethylenediammonium Sulfate/TRIS Hydroxymethylaminomethane
  • Potassium Dichromate/Potassium Bi-lodate

Organic Halogen Reagent (OHR) — Sodium Biphenyl Reagent

Organic Halogen Reagent (OHR) Sodium Biphenyl Reagent

GFS Chemicals Organic Halogen Reagent (OHR) is also known as Sodium Biphenyl Reagent. The reactive nature of the sodium biphenyl complex in ethyl diglyme ensures complete extraction of any halide species present in most any organo-halide derivative. This includes pesticides, petrochemicals, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, mixed halides and fluro-organics. Extraction of the halide into an aqueous layer allows for easy determination via titration, color reagent or ISE. OHR does this effectively and rapidly for samples that can be dissolved in an inert solvent such as toluene or ether.

Benefits:

  • Rapid — can be completed in 30 minutes or less.
  • Safe — protects against hazards in chemical preparation and handling.
  • Versatile — applicable to a wide range of organic materials.

Turbidity Standards, what is turbidity standards, turbidity definition

Turbidity Standards

Our Amco Clear turbidity standards are traceable to NIST Primary Standards on account of their consistent particle size and photometric accuracy via US-UV spectroscopy.  The United States EPA recognizes Amco Clear as a Primary Standard for the calibration of turbidity meters used both online and in the laboratory for the analysis of drinking water.  These time tested quality standards and calibrations kits are also essential to a variety of industry applications including petrochemicals, specialty chemicals, food and beverage, environmental, wastewater treatment, power generation and in-process water. Our Amco Clear products are:

  • ISO I7025 Accredited Laboratory
  • Accurate 1 % lot-to-lot
  • Ready to use, no dilution required
  • Completely non-toxic and non-carcinogenic
  • Guaranteed 12 months from the date of shipment
  • Customizable
  • Tailored sizing and packaging options
